do they put the entire roster on the stanley cup?
I have heard they put names on the stanley cup for the winning team. I always wondered how this works. Do they just put certain names on the cup, captains, coaches, assistant captains, goalies or does everyone on the given roster go on the cup? how do they fit all of those names and if so, 50 years from now, wont they run out of room? is the type small? thank you!
They put the whole roster…
every year thy retired a team and take off the oldest roster and put on a new oone.
The roster are put on pieces of metal that are detachable.. so when they are retired they get hung up in the hockey hall of fame

Yes, they just add on the cup making it bigger.

"Prior to 1977 only players who had completed the Stanley Cup playoffs were eligible. Today, players appearing in 41 regular-season games or one Stanley Cup Final game for the championship team have their names engraved on the Cup. The NHL makes exceptions for players who do not meet the standard because of injury or other extenuating circumstances."
"Only one name has been added against the rules. When the Edmonton Oilers won their first championship in 1984, owner Peter Pocklington included his father’s name – "Basil Pocklington" – among the names engraved. It was later scratched out with a series Xs. "
The name was not registered with the NHL as a staff member of the Oilers. There for even if he changed his name he would have to do that before the Oilers won the cup. Best to plan ahead.
12 Women are on the Stanley Cup for being part of the Staff or for being owners.
As the bands get filled up on the Cup they take a band off and start a new one.The type isnt overly huge but its not really small either.
