Merrill Lynch or Morgan Stanley? Which company would you work for? Which company is better in general?

Just wanted your opinion on both these companies. If you have any other information regarding the two companies please let me know. Thanks.

Investment companies are all the same…

TWO PROBLEM SOLVING WITH EQUATIONS (using x if needed) GIVING 10 POINTS TO BEST ANSWER AND SHOW YOUR WORK.?

Posted on July 10th, 2010 by admin in the stanley works | 4 Comments »

1. The sum of 180$ was divided among 3 people so that the second person received $6 less than twice as much as the first, and the third received $7 more than the second. How much did each person receive ?

2. Stanley worked 6 more than twice as many hours as Kathleen did. How many hours did each work if together they worked 69 hours ?

1. $180 among 3 people. 1st person is x. 2nd has less than twice of 1st, so 2x-6. 3rd has received 7 more than the 2nd, so (2x-6)+7=2x+1

180= x + (2x-6) + (2x+1)
180= 5x-5
185=5x
x=$37. First person
2x-6=(2)(37)-6=$68. Second person.
2x+1=(2)(37)+1= $75 Third Person.

2) Kathleen worked x hours. Stanley worked 6 more than twice as many as Kathleen. 2x+6
Total they had 69 hours.

x+2x+6=69
3x=63
x=21. Kathleen worked 21 hours.
2(21)+6=48. Stanley worked 48 hours.

Need tips on adding disk sander to wood lathe?

Posted on July 10th, 2010 by admin in lathe | 2 Comments »

I have an old Craftsman wood lathe. Still runs like a champ with it’s 1/2 horse power, dunlap motor made in 1956.

I plan on adding a disk sanding pad to the 4 inch face plate. 12 inch diameter is probably pushing it. What would be a good practical size. I’m hoping I can go larger than 6 inch.

I think anything over 6 inches would be pushing it. For anything larger in dia. you might try making an alluminium face plate from an old saucepan bottom and using that to attach your sanding disk to. That way you could have a larger dia. plate than the 4 inch one that you currently have. I have read about someone who did this and it was very successful.

What software to use to make a magazine cover?

Posted on July 10th, 2010 by admin in software | 5 Comments »

I want to experiement with software to make a magazine cover. Any software thats good at that kind of stuff? Thanks!

Photoshop and Gimp are graphics editing/enhancing applications.
They are not intended for page layouts.
Microsoft Publisher and Adobe InDesign are desktop publishing applications which can be used to create things such as posters, flyers, brochures, magazines and books.
Not sure if free trials are available for either.
Neither is free so purchase is required for continued use.

PagePlus SE is a free desktop publishing app. I use it for quick designs and layouts on my laptop due to it’s smaller size on disk.

What is the proper way to drill?

Posted on July 10th, 2010 by admin in drill | 3 Comments »

Me and my friend are building a fort and we dug the 2×4s into the ground and now we are drilling the 2×4s across the top (so one side looks like this |???| ) yes but we are having trouble drilling into the corners like at this part: ?|
see what i’m saying? the screws like go in crocked and its hard to drill like that and it doesn’t look like it will hold for long… is this the correct way? If not what is? and any other suggestions for this fort to be build that may make it more sturdy?

If I am understanding the question you are asking … try looking for a Jig, ( a device that is pre made with the correct angles and holes ) then you wont have to worry about messin up.
